We are incredibly proud to share the success of our recent international learning experience with Southend United Community Foundation 🌍⚽

A group of 35 male and female students, aged 16–19, currently studying our BTEC Level 3 in Sports Coaching and Development, recently travelled to Torremolinos, Malaga, for an unforgettable 4 days, 3 nights educational tour.

Over the four days, the trip to Málaga was a fantastic success and gave students a excellent mix of football, personal development, and team bonding. After arriving in the early hours of day one, the group settled in before taking part in their first training session, followed by dinner and time to relax at the hotel. Day two included another high-quality training session delivered by Spanish coaches from Málaga, followed by beach activities which focused on team building activities, yoga, S&C and a psychology-based discussion, which added real value beyond the football experience.

On day three, the students played their first fixture, earning an impressive 2–2 draw against Real Internacional in a fantastic stadium and atmosphere, before enjoying some downtime on the beach and coming together again in the evening. 

The final day was packed, with the group playing their second match against the Málaga CF Foundation, taking part in a stadium tour of Málaga CF, and visiting a major shopping centre before heading to the airport.

Trips like this are a vital part of our programme, allowing students to develop both academically and personally beyond the classroom and as part of our enrichment programme. 

The group represented both the Football Club and Community Foundation with outstanding professionalism, maturity and enthusiasm throughout the tour. Education tutor and project co-ordinator Jamie Bradbourn mentioned that the trip exceeded all expectations. “They should be really proud of themselves. The students were a credit to the programme and it was great to see so many making the most of the experience, enjoying themselves and creating lasting memories together.”
