Dan Bentley, former Southend United goalkeeper and legend, made the move to Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2023, having arrived at Roots Hall in 2008 and made his debut performance in 2011
One of the most imposing goalkeepers to have worn the Southend shirt, Bentley played 141 league games in all during his time at Roots Hall, most notably enjoying a superb 2014/15 season.
He won Supporters’ Player, Players’ Player, and Community Player of the Year, as well as being named in the League Two Team of the Season and winning the Football League Young Player of the Month award.
